This third stage dashed from the Palacio de Buçaco, on a tortuous route to Arganil where it was necessary to be attentive to the roadbook not to get lost during the occasion of some changes of direction little visible which would lead the participants at the foot of the Serra de Estrela.
It was not counting on the snow which was invited at the time of the first test of regularity to lead to the highest point of Portugal located at 1995m and sheltering the only ski resort of the country.

It is with regret that Cyril Neveu then had to take the decision not to carry out this test because the road had put on his white coat and was not more practicable then. The caravan of the rally was diverted to Covilha to reach the summit of the Sera de Estrela by another side and enjoy the lunch planned in a surprising medieval inn.
After this gourmet stop, the rally has resumed its course to descend the pass and cross the valley before going to Sortelha and visit this historic village of Portugal.

It was then that an electrical failure on the Alpine A110 deprived the BRELET / BRELET crew of the end of the stage that led the competitors to Manteigas and a regularity event held in the afternoon on a road. winding with a steep drop and a fog “cut with a knife”!
The crew LHOSPIED / LHOSPIED wins the Prestige category at the wheel of their Porsche 997 and BEERNAETS / MOINET wins the Classic category on their Porsche 911 2.7 RS.

Finally, pilots and co-pilots have completed the stage by taking a nice road to reach the flatter lands of the Viseu area where we are staying tonight, in a former hospital rehabilitated in charming Pousada which welcomes us for the night and a well deserved rest after a day like winter rally. We look forward tomorrow for the last leg towards Porto, which will put the Douro in the spotlight!
